How can your auto insurance elections affect the amount you recover for your injuries?

Your insurance elections affect how much money you get for several reasons. One is, many people drive around in the State of New Jersey with limited policies with bodily injury coverage.

For example, they may only have a fifteen thousand dollars policy from which you can obtain money to compensate you for your injuries. If your own contains an underinsured motorist provision that’s over fifteen thousand, it’s possible for you to obtain compensation from the other driver’s insurance, and then get additional coverage from your own underinsured motorist benefits.

If, for example you have insurance coverage of one hundred thousand on your own UIM coverage, then you get the fifteen thousand from the other driver, then go after your own UIM benefits for and amount up to one hundred thousand.
